MEDIA, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's cross country team had five of the top six finishers including sophomore Samantha Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) who won the individual title and the Royals also took first place in the team standings at Saturday's Dan Talbot Open that was hosted by Bryn Mawr College.
The Royals rolled to the team title with 16 points.
Here are some of Scranton's highlights from Saturday's meet.
- Hoffmann finished first as she ran the 6,000 meter course in a personal-best time of 23:22.5.
- Freshman Emily Hopkins (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) and senior Molly Neeson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) finished second and third for the Royals with times of 23:53.3 and 23:56.7, respectively.
- Junior Olivia Tullman (Chester Springs, Pa./The Hill School) added a fourth place finish in 24:08.1 and senior Sarah Kern (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) rounded out the team's top five as she took sixth place with a time of 24:51.2.
Scranton is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational that will be hosted by Gettysburg College beginning at 10 a.m.
