Jessica Hoffmann Captures Individual Title as Women's Cross Country Takes Second at Misericordia Invitational

DALLAS, Pa. – Graduate student Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) clocked a personal-best 4K time of 15:11.60 and rolled to the individual title as The University of Scranton women's cross country team opened the 2022 season on Thursday night at the Misericordia Invitational.

The Royals finished second in the team standings with 40 points as Marywood captured the team title on the evening with 26 points.

Here are some of the highlights from Thursday's action.

  • Hoffmann's victory marks the third individual title of her career and her winning time of 15:11.60, eclipses her previous personal-best of 15:45.40 at the 2021 Misericordia Invitational.
  • Sophomore Samantha Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) took seventh in the meet with a time of 16:20.80, while junior Catriona Corbett (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) finished ninth in a personal-best time of 16:33.20.
  • Freshman Emily Hopkins (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) posted an impressive 11th place finish in her collegiate debut with a time of 16:36.90 and junior Olivia Tullman (Chester Springs, Pa./The Hill School) took 12th place in a personal-best time of 16:39.20.

The Royals return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Lock Haven Invitational with action getting underway at 10 a.m.
