From there, the back and forth affair continued as Marywood held a 24-23 lead before three straight Royals points led to the 26-24 victory as Whelpley closed things out with a kill.

In the second set, the Pacers opened an early 8-7 advantage, but Scranton took the lead for good with five straight points capped off by consecutive kills from sophomore Katherine Denitz (Lansdale, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) that made it 12-8. Marywood was unable to get any closer than three the rest of the way and the Royals rolled to a 25-17 win.
