BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Noelle Gonzalez (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) broke a pair of program records in the 200 and 400 meters as The University of Scranton women's track & field team posted several impressive performances at the Moravian University Indoor Meet that was held on Lehigh's campus on Saturday.
Here are some of the Royals' highlights from the meet.
- Gonzalez captured the 200 meters with a program record time of 26.74 seconds, surpassing her previous record of 27.17 that had been set on Feb. 26, 2022.
- The Harrington Park, N.J., native also finished third in the 400 meters as she clocked a program record time of 1:00.89, just .22 seconds off of Lehigh's Lauren Powell who won the event in 1:00.67. Gonzalez's time eclipsed AnnMarie Onwuka's previous program best time of 1:01.97 on Feb. 29, 2020.
- Sophomore Samantha Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) captured the mile in a time of 5:22.59, just ahead of Lafayette's Ashleigh Lustgarten who finished second at 5:22.68.
- Hoffmann's older sister, graduate student Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills), took second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:20.40.
- The women's Distance Medley Relay team of Hoffmann, junior Olivia Tullman (Chester Springs, Pa./The Hill School) and freshmen Maria Viola (Central Valley, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) and Isabella Genao (West Hazleton, Pa./Marian Catholic) won the event with a new program record of 13:05.32, more than 25 seconds better than the previous record of 13:30.61 from Jan. 22, 2022.
- In the field events, freshman Molly White (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) broke her own record of 10.20m in the triple jump and finished fourth with a mark of 10.40m.
- Junior Alex Ferrador (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) also posted a fifth place finish in the shot put with a mark of 10.59m.
The Royals return to action next Saturday at the Conference Challenge Cup that will be hosted by Nazareth College beginning at 10 a.m.
