Gonzalez, Long Lead Women's Track & Field at Greg Page Relays

ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton women's track & field team broke a pair of program records as the Royals opened the indoor season at the Greg Page Relays that were hosted by Cornell University on Saturday.

Here are some of Scranton's highlights from the meet on Saturday.

  • Junior Chelsea Long (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) broke a program record in the 500 meters as she crossed the finish line with a time of 1:27.28 in 13th place, just ahead of freshman Olivia Miller (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) who took 14th place in 1:27.62. Long's time surpassed the previous best of 1:31.60 that had been set by senior Abigail Sheehan (Wyckoff, N.J./Academy of the Holy Angels) on Jan. 28, 2022.
  • Long also added a fourth place finish in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:28.62.
  • In the 300 meters, senior Noelle Gonzalez (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) posted a program record time of 43.54 seconds.
  • The Royals' 4x400 relay team of Sheehan, sophomore Andreina Solano (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury), senior Katherine Welby (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) and Gonzalez added a sixth place finish in a time of 4:24.37.
  • Junior Alex Ferrador (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) posted a 14th place finish in the shot put with a mark of 10.51m.

The Royals will return to the track on Dec. 9-10 for the SU Early Season Invite that will be hosted by the River Hawks beginning on Friday at 4 p.m.
