Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Catholic in Dual Meet Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Scranton women's swimming and diving team dropped a 203-94 dual meet decision to Catholic on Saturday afternoon at the DuFour Center Pool in Washington, D.C.

The Royals are now 2-1 in dual meets so far on the young season.

Here are some of the Royals' highlights from Saturday's meet.

  • Senior Danielle Pikulik (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's) won the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.27 and also added a second place finish in the 200 breaststroke as she touched the wall in a time of 2:37.09.
  • Junior Alyssa Benzija (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) added a second place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:16.25 and also took third in the 200 free in 2:05.15, while classmate Jaclyn Papalski (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) finished third in both the 1000 free (11:35.28) and the 500 free (5:42.57).
  • Fellow junior Kayleigh Olszewski (Conshohocken, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) took third in both the 200 IM (2:25.07) and the 200 fly (2:21.00).
  • On the diving boards for Scranton, senior Jeanna Gailius (Milton, Mass./Ursuline Academy) finished second in the three meter event with 186.00 points and third in the one meter at 162.15 points.

Scranton is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 12 for a tri-meet against Misericordia and Moravian that will begin at 1 p.m.
