Senior defender Claire Sites (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford Area) scored a goal in Saturday's win over Juniata and also helped The University of Scranton women's soccer team limit the Eagles and Penn State Berks to two total shots in a pair of victories. For her efforts, Sites has been named Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week as released by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
This is the first career Landmark weekly honor for Sites.
The Collegeville, Pa., native scored a goal in the 47th minute of Saturday's 3-0 victory to break open a one goal game at the time. Defensively, Sites and the Royals surrendered just two shots in a 2-1 win at Penn State Berks on Wednesday and held Juniata without a shot.
On the season, she has recorded seven points on three goals and one assist while anchoring a backline that has allowed just five goals which ranks tied for fourth nationally.
The Royals will host No. 4 seed Catholic in Landmark Conference semifinal action on Tuesday night at Weiss Field with action getting underway at 7 p.m.
