ANNVILLE, PA (September 14, 2022) -- The University of Scranton women's soccer team played Lebanon Valley College to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday afternoon at Herbert Field.

With the tie the Royals move to 3-1-1 on the season as they continue in non-conference play.

Junior Claire Mulholland (Marlton, N.J. / Cherokee) took the first shot of the game in the 5th minute but saw her effort saved by Lebanon Valley's goalkeeper Jocelyn Umana. The Royals continued to test Umana in the early stages of the game, firing off four shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes, but were unable to beat out the Dutchmens' goalkeeper.

Scranton held a 10-1 shot advantage after the opening 45 minutes but the game remained scoreless headed into the break.

Following a pair of efforts on goal to start the second half, Mulholland gave Scranton a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute as she scored off an assist from sophomore Emily Bannon (Middletown, N.Y. / Minisink Valley)

The Royals held strong to the one goal lead until the 82nd minute when Darrian Berkheimer found the equalizer for LVC.

Scranton had one last opportunity to win the match in the 89th minute but couldn't capitalize as sophomore Niamh Healy (Orangeburg, N.Y. / Tappan Zee) missed her effort wide right.

The Royals recorded a 16-5 shot advantage in the contest, including a game-high four from Healy. Sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Olson (Stoughton, Mass. / Ursuline Academy) made two saves for Scranton.

The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday when they host Stevens Institute of Technology at 1:00 PM at Weiss Field.
