Sophomore midfielder Erin Toburen (Harleysville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) of The University of Scranton women's soccer team scored a pair of goals to help the Royals defeat Penn State-Harrisburg last week. As a result, she has been named the Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week for women's soccer.
Toburen scored twice in the second half of a 3-0 win over the Lions on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Weiss Field. She scored in the 76th minute to double the Royals' lead to 2-0, then added her second goal just 106 seconds later to put the game away in the 78th minute.
It was the second time this season Toburen scored twice in a match. She also accomplished the feat in a 4-1 win at Western Connecticut State on Sept. 8. She now has four goals this season and five for her career.
Toburen also played a solid game on Saturday, Oct. 6, helping Scranton defeat Moravian, 2-0, on the road in Landmark Conference play. The victory kept the Royals (10-0-1) undefeated and pushed their Landmark Conference winning streak to 19 straight games, including playoffs.
The women's soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 13, when the Royals host Drew at 7 p.m. in a Landmark Conference match at Weiss Field.
