COLLEGEVILLE, PA (January 14, 2023) -- Graduate Student Will Laughlin (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn) broke The University of Scranton wrestling programs' pins record on Saturday with his 33rd career pin at the Will Abele Invitational hosted by Ursinus College.

The previous record of 32 career pins was held by Tim Moser (1985-89).

Laughlin finished the day as the top finisher for the Royals, taking fifth in the 174 pound weight class. The Lansdale, PA native started off his day with back-to-back pins over Jordan Downey of Ursinus and Michael Daughetry of Gettysburg to secure the record. He then followed up with another pin over AJ Cerulli of Ursinus in less than two minutes. Following a pair of tight decision losses, Laughlin rounded out his day with a 17-2 tech fall over Tyson Hoopes of Southern Virginia to take fifth place in his weight class.

Junior Daniel Kosinski (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Trinity) took sixth place at 157 for Scranton. Following an opening round loss, the junior captain earned two consecutive pins including a pin over Carson Hall of Southern Virginia in just 17 seconds. Kosinski would go on to post two more wins on the day, featuring his third pin over Max Yahre of Oneonta.

The wrestling team returns to action next Saturday when they hit the road for a dual match against Elizabethtown at 12:00 PM.
