Wrestling’s Conlon Honored as University of Scranton Athlete of the Week

Junior T.J. Conlon (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) of The University of Scranton wrestling team enjoyed an outstanding day on Sunday at the John Reese Duals hosted by Wilkes University, winning all three of his bouts, leading the Royals to a pair of wins.  For his performance, he has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.

Conlon went 3-0 at 149 pounds with a pin and two major decisions to help Scranton improve to 7-6 on the season on Sunday.

In Scranton's opening match on Sunday against No. 21 RIT, Conlon was one of just two Royals to win his contest against the Tigers as he scored a 20-6 major decision over Joey Brillo.  RIT would go on to win the match over the Royals, 37-10.

In Scranton's 52-3 win over Keystone in round two, Conlon pinned the Giants' Colby Bronzburg in 6:23 before ending his day with a 12-4 major decision over Penn State Behrend's Cole Ruffo as the Royals defeated the Lions, 40-9.

With his trio of wins on Sunday, Conlin improved to 12-6 on the season while lifting his career record to 35-30 with eight pins.  He has also won his last seven matches with two pins and three major decisions in his current streak.

Conlon and the Royals return to action on Sunday when they host Lycoming in a dual meet starting at 12:30 p.m. in the John Long Center.
