TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. – Junior Madalyne Buhler (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) shot an 81 (+10) to finish in second place and The University of Scranton women's golf team opened the fall campaign with a 360-382 dual match victory over King's on Sunday afternoon at Stone Hedge Golf Course in Tunkhannock.
Buhler fell just one stroke shy of medalist honors as the Monarchs' Evie Williams carded an 80 (+9) on the afternoon to take first place overall.
Elsewhere for Scranton, junior Victoria Dowling (East Northport, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) fired an 86 (+15) in her season debut and senior Kate Pagano (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) shot an 89 (+18). Rounding out the scorers on the day for the Royals were junior AnnaMarie Palermo (Media, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) with a 104 (+33) and freshman Cassandra Weir (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) with a 105 (+34).
The Royals return to the course on Sunday, Sept. 11 for a dual match at Misericordia with tee time at Irem Temple Country Club slated for 12 p.m.
