Mann Honored as Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete for Women’s Basketball

As senior guard Bridgette Mann (Canadensis, Pa./Wallenpaupack) puts the final touches on one of the most outstanding playing careers for The University of Scranton women's basketball team, her achievements in the classroom and on the court were recognized on Friday afternoon as she was honored as the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete for women's basketball. 

Mann, who is leading the Lady Royals into the sectional round of the NCAA Tournament this weekend in the John Long Center, becomes the fourth Scranton women's basketball player to garner Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete honors, joining Kathleen Daly (2007-08), Meredith Mesaris (2014-15), and Sarah Payonk (2016-17) as recipients of the award for the Lady Royals.

Today's award adds to Mann's already impressive list of accolades she has compiled during her four years at Scranton.  She is a three-time All-Landmark Conference honoree including a First Team selection this season, the second year in a row she earned First Team laurels.

Earlier this week, she was one of just 18 NCAA Division III players selected to participate in the inaugural Beyond Sports Women's Collegiate All-Star Game presented by the WBCA which will be held on Saturday, March 16 in Salem, Virginia, just before the start of the national championship game.

In her junior campaign, Mann had a season for the ages as she was named WBCA Honorable Mention All-American, was a D3hoops.com Third Team All-American, was the D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year and a First Team All-Region selection.  She also was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and garnered Landmark Conference Championship MVP honors as well.

Mann, who has led the Lady Royals to four straight Landmark Conference championships and the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament all four years of her career, was also selected as the Landmark Conference Freshman of the Year and was named the D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region Freshman of the Year in her rookie season in 2015-16.

Her name is found all over the Lady Royals record book as she currently ranks first in three-pointers (230), third in three-point field goal percentage (37.7) and free throw percentage (83.6), eighth in points (1,433), tied for ninth in free throws made (225), 13th in scoring average (13.0), field goals made (489), and assists (350), and is 15th in assists per game (3.2).

Mann is a standout performer in the classroom as well, having earned Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll accolades all three years she has been eligible for the award.  A biology (pre-dental) major, she sports an impressive 3.28 cumulative grade point average. 

Mann is also very active in the campus and local community.  She is the pre-dental chair of the Health Professions Organization, is treasurer of the Ready Set Brush dental club, is a member of the biology club, is a microbiology teaching assists, participates in the Random Acts of Kindness program, and is a secretary for the University's Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence.

She has volunteer her time with numerous programs including raising money for labors disease and retinal researching, volunteering in state park clean-up efforts, as a reader at the Wallenpaupack Primary School, as a coach and referee for Biddy Basketball, as a dog walker for the Dessin Animal Shelter, and as a volunteer for the Queen of Peace Church.

Mann and the ninth-ranked Lady Royals take on Christopher Newport in an NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 matchup tonight in the Long Center starting at 7:00 p.m.
