For the second straight second and the third time in the last four years, The University of Scranton will be hosting Sectional Round games of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship inside the John Long Center beginning on Friday evening.

On Friday, action begins at 5 p.m., as seventh-ranked Messiah (28-1) takes on fourth-ranked Tufts (27-2). Then, at 7 p.m., the host and ninth-ranked Lady Royals of Scranton (27-2) take on Christopher Newport (25-5). The winners of Friday night's contest will move onto Saturday's quarterfinal bout with a spot in the Final Four at stake. That game will begin at 6 p.m.

Fans planning on making the trip to the Long Center are reminded that tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students & children (ages 2 & up) and seniors over the age of 61. Children under the age of two will be admitted at no charge. Door will open at 3:45 p.m. at the Long Center on Friday and 4:45 on Saturday

Also, fans can purchase tickets on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Long Center lobby. This will be a cash only sale.

Playing in the Sweet 16 for the fourth straight season, fifth time in the last six years, and 22nd time in program history, Scranton will host three school familiar with playing in the Long Center in the second weekend of March beginning on Friday.

In each of the last three seasons, Tufts has found their way into Scranton's side of the bracket in the sectional round. In both 2016 and 2017, the Jumbos knocked off the Lady Royals, besting Scranton in the Quarterfinals at the Long Center in 2016 and the Sectional Round at Washington St. Louis in 2017.

This will also mark the third time in the last four years Tufts has played in the Long Center in the sectionals, as they fell to Bowdoin last year in the Elite Eight.

Messiah, meanwhile, made the trip north to Scranton last year and fell to Tufts in the Sectional Round, 70-39. And, Christopher Newport last played in the Long Center in the 2016 Sectional Round, falling to the Lady Royals by a score of 82-46.

More information on the 2019 NCAA Women's Basketball Sectional Round games at The University of Scranton will be posted throughout the week on athletics.scranton.edu.
