Lanahan Notches Individual Title as Men's Cross Country Captures Dan Talbot Open

MEDIA, Pa. – Junior Tim Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) won the individual title with a personal-best 8K time and helped lead The University of Scranton men's cross country team to the team title at Saturday's Dan Talbot Open that was hosted by Bryn Mawr College.

The Royals won the nine team field with 17 team points as three different runners posted top-five finishes.

Here are some of the highlights from Saturday's meet.

  • Lanahan completed the 8,000 meter course in a personal-best 8K time of 26:25.8 and notched the first individual title of his career.
  • Senior Nicholas Gershey (South Abington Township, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished third for the Royals in 27:29.4 and sophomore Matthew Felicia (Medford, N.J./Holy Cross Prep) took home fourth place with a personal-best time of 27:30.9.
  • Elsewhere for Scranton, sophomore Liam Fahey (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) recorded an eighth place finish with a new personal-best time of 28:13.1 and freshman Angel Perez (New Haven, Conn./Fairfield Prep) finished ninth in 28:20.1.

Scranton returns to the course on Saturday, Oct. 15 for the Aubrey Shenk Invitational at Gettysburg College with action getting underway at 10 a.m.
