Men's Track & Field Breaks Pair of Program Records at Greg Page Relays

ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton men's track & field team set a pair of program records to lead the way for the Royals at the season-opening Greg Page Relays that were hosted by Cornell University on Saturday.

Here are some of the Royals' highlights from the meet.

  • Freshman Christopher Dertinger (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) set a new program record in the 500 meters as he finished with a time of 1:11.76, breaking the previous record of 1:14.16 that was set by junior Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) on Jan. 28, 2022.
  • Junior Kyle Muirhead (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) broke a program record in the 300 meters as he crossed the line in 37.58 seconds, more than three seconds ahead of the previous record holder in sophomore Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) who had set it at 40.69 seconds on Jan. 28, 2022.
  • Mokhtari matched the program record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.25 seconds and Arcara crossed the line in 9.36 seconds.
  • Graduate student Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) added a 10th place finish in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:39.28.

The Royals will return to the track on Dec. 9-10 for the Susquehanna Early Season Invite that will be hosted by the River Hawks beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday.
