SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's tennis team (1-3) dropped a 6-3 decision to the Grove City College Wolverines (1-0) in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon at the Royal Courts in Scranton.
The senior duo of James Harrington (West Chester, Pa./Malvern Prep) and Patrick O'Mara (Pleasantville, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) notched a thrilling 8-6 victory over Grove City's Ryne Talko and Ben James in No. 1 doubles, but the Royals trailed 2-1 heading into singles play.
Harrington notched a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Talko in No. 1 singles and at No. 4 singles, junior Jason Budrys (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) took a straight set decision (6-3, 6-3) for the Royals against Collier Kaufman.
In No. 5 singles action, sophomore John Sinclair (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) dropped a three set heartbreaker to Josiah Newton, 6-2, 1-6, 2-6.
The Royals return to the courts on Saturday, Sept. 24 for the King's Fall Invitational with action getting underway at 9 a.m.
