BALTIMORE, Md. – The University of Scranton men's tennis team battled for the duration of the Landmark Conference championship match on Saturday against Goucher, but could not keep the Gophers from claiming a third straight title in a 5-2 loss in the title tilt.

The Royals trailed 2-1 after doubles play, where juniors Brian Harkins (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) and Alexander Ochalski (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) scored an 8-4 win at no. 2.

Ochalski then went out and posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at no. 3 singles to give Scranton hope as they trailed 3-2 when his match ended. But the Gophers were not to be denied, taking the next two points to win the title.

The Royals finish their season with a 13-4 record, the most wins for the team since they went 15-6 in 2010.
