Finley, O'Malley Lead Men's Swimming & Diving Past Susquehanna in 145-126 Dual Meet Victory

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Freshman Jimmy O'Malley (Maple Glen, Pa./LaSalle College) won three events on the day to lead The University of Scranton men's swimming and diving team to a tight 145-126 dual meet victory over the Susquehanna River Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Garrett Complex Natatorium in Selinsgrove.

With the victory, the Royals improve to 5-3 on the year in dual meets.

Below are some of the highlights from Saturday's win over the River Hawks.

  • O'Malley won the 1000 freestyle with a personal-best time of 10:05.58 and also added victories in the 200 fly (2:04.58) and 500 free (4:58.08).
  • Fellow freshman Mike Finley (New Milford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) took home first place in both the 100 back with a time of 53.69 seconds and the 200 back in 2:02:57.
  • Elsewhere for Scranton, Finley took second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.64, while the duo of senior Michael Krumenacker (Ambler, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) and junior Scott Majka (Marysville, Pa./Trinity) posted a pair of silver medal performances apiece.
  • Krumenacker took second in the 50 free (22.33) and 100 fly (52.63) and Majka recorded second place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.03) and 100 free (49.01).
  • The Royals also saw second place finishes in both the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Scranton will return home to host Drew in their final dual meet of the regular season next Saturday at 1 p.m. with a Senior Day ceremony to be held prior to the meet.
