DALLAS, Pa. – Freshman James O'Malley (Maple Glen, Pa./LaSalle College) and senor Michael Krumenacker (Ambler, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) each won three races apiece to lead The University of Scranton men's swimming and diving team to victories over Misericordia and Moravian during Saturday's tri-meet that was held at the Anderson Sports Center in Dallas.
With the 210-24 victory over Moravian and the 134-127 victory over the host Cougars, the Royals improve to 3-2 on the year in dual meets.
Here are some of the Royals' highlights from Saturday.
- O'Malley won the 1000 freestyle (10:31.15), 200 fly (2:04.22) and 500 free (5:04.07), while Krumenacker posted victories in the 50 free (22.42), 100 free (48.96) and 50 fly (23.91). Krumenacker's winning time of 23.91 in the 50 fly just eclipsed the previous program record of 23.92 that had been set by Timothy Quigley on Nov. 30, 2018.
- Other event winners on Saturday for the Royals were graduate student Evan Morgan (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.21 and freshman Michael Finley (New Milford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) in the 50 back with a time of 25.46.
- Finley added a second place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.71) and Morgan took second in the 500 free (5:15.97), while junior Scott Majka (Marysville, Pa./Trinity) recorded a pair of second place finishes in the 50 breaststroke (27.91) and 100 free (49.46).
- The 400 medley relay team of Finley, Majka, Krumenacker and Morgan cruised to first place with a time of 3:40.47, nearly 10 seconds ahead of second place Misericordia at 3:50.38.
Scranton will host Hartwick in a dual meet next Saturday at the Byron Recreation Complex with action getting underway at 1 p.m.
