Balanced Effort Carries Men's Swimming & Diving Past Marywood, 196-33

SCRANTON, Pa. – Five different student-athletes won two events apiece and The University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team rolled to a 196-33 dual meet victory over Marywood in a dual meet on Saturday at the Marywood University Aquatics Center.

Here are some of the Royals' highlights from Saturday's meet.

  • Freshman Michael Finley (New Milford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep), senior Michael Krumenacker (Ambler, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep), junior Scott Majka (Marysville, Pa./Trinity) and freshman James O'Malley (Maple Glen, Pa./LaSalle College) all captured two individual victories in the pool and junior Alexander Drake (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) added two wins on the diving boards.
  • Finley took home the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:03.48 and also captured the 200 breaststroke as he touched the wall in 2:23.06, while Krumenacker won the 100 backstroke in a time of 57.38 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 50.23 seconds.
  • Majka captured the 50 free in 22.66 seconds and also won the 100 fly in 54.63 to go along with wins from O'Malley in both the 200 free (1:53.22) and 200 back (2:10.84).
  • On the diving boards, Drake posted a score of 129.10 points in the one meter event and registered 166.70 points in the three meter dive.
  • Elsewhere for the Royals, freshman Will Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) won the 500 free with a time of 5:09.53 and graduate student Evan Morgan (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) took home the 200 IM in 2:09.51.

The Royals are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Catholic for a dual meet that will get underway at 1 p.m.
