Senior Michael Ramsthaler (Florham Park, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) of The University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team was named the 2018-19 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete for the sport on Wednesday morning, marking the second time in program history a Royals men's swimmer has won the award.

Joining Michael Ambrose, who won the award in 2014-15, Ramsthaler earned the Senior Scholar Athlete Award from the Landmark after posting a 3.56 grade point average at the University as an Exercise Science/Clinical major.

A three-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient (2017-19), Ramsthaler earned Second Team All-Landmark honors in the pool five times throughout his career at Scranton, helping the Royals finish in the top three at the conference championship in each of the last three seasons.

Scranton's all-time record holder in the 100-backstroke, he's also swam a leg on a pair of record breaking relay teams (200-medley relay and 400-medley relay), as well.

In the classroom, Ramsthaler has been named to The University of Scranton's Dean's List four times (Spring 2017, Fall 2017, Spring 2017, Fall 2018), and is a recipient of the Dean's Scholarship.

A member of Phi Epsilon Kappa, Ramsthaler has also served as a swim instructor at the New Horizons Day Camp in Florham Park, N.J. since 2015, and was an Aquatic Therapy Instructor at St. Joseph's Center in Scranton in the Fall of 2017, assisting senior members of the center with their aquatic therapy routines.

Ramsthaler, who will earn his bachelors degree in May, has already been accepted in the Rutgers University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, and will start the program this summer.
