DALLAS, PA (September 13, 2022) -- The University of Scranton men's soccer team fought its way to a 0-0 draw against Misericordia University on Tuesday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.

With the result the Royals move to 3-1-1 on the season.

Scranton saw the first offensive action of the game as freshman Logan Campbell (Chalfont, Pa. / Central Bucks South) took a shot in the opening two minutes of play but was saved by Misericordia's goalkeeper Andrew Daubenspeck.

Sophomore Sean Quin (Stony Point, N.Y. / Albertus Magnus) forced Daubenspeck to make another save in the 22nd minute as the Royals pushed to find the opening goal of the game.

Scranton was unable to break the deadlock at the end of the first half despite holding a 7-3 shot advantage.

Senior goalkeeper Aidan Hartey (Elkins Park, Pa. / St. Joseph's Prep) made his first save of the night in the opening three minutes of the second half to keep the game scoreless. Hartey then came up big in the 70th minute with another save to keep the Cougars off the score sheet.

Freshman Dean Finan (Malvern, Pa. / Great Valley) had a great opportunity for the Royals late in the second half but saw his effort saved by Misericordias' back line just in front of the goal line.

The Cougars held a 13-11 shot advantage in the contest and had six corners compared to Scranton's three. Hartey finished the game with three saves and secured his third consecutive shutout for the Royals.

The University of Scranton men's soccer team returns to action this Saturday when they head to William Paterson for a 5:00 PM kickoff.
