Men's Golf Leads Biondi Memorial Invitational After Opening Round; Zawatski Tied for First Individually

MOOSIC, PA (October 15, 2022) -- The Unviersity of Scranton men's golf team holds a one stroke lead over regionally ranked Franklin & Marshall after the opening round of the Biondi Memorial Inviational at Glenmaura National Golf Club.

The Royals finished with a team score of 302 to edge out F&M by one stroke (303) while Neumann sits in third at 320. 

Senior Ethan Zawatski (Dallas, Pa. / Dallas) tied Dominic Soulti of Franklin & Marshall at 72 (+1) for the low round of the day. Zawatski's round featured five birdies, including three on the back nine where he shot a 33 (-3). 

Finishing in a three way tie for third on the day was sophomore Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y. / Seton Catholic Central) who fired off a round of 75 (+4). Fellow sophomore Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal) finished two strokes behind him with a 77 (+6) and currently sits in a tie for sixth.

Freshman Jack Novis (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) carded a 78 (+8) and is tied for eighth while senior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa. / Council Rock South) rounded out the lineup for the Royals with an 82 (+11). 

Action at the Biondi Memorial Invitational resumes at Glenmaura National Golf Club tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM.
