Fleming Earns Medalist Honors as Men's Golf Earns Local Tri-Match Win over King's and Clark Summit

HANOVER TWP., PA (September 29, 2022) -- Senior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa. / Council Rock South) shot the low round of the day with 75 (+4) to lead The University of Scranton men's golf team to a tri-match victory over King's and Clark Summit on Thursday afternoon at Wyoming Valley Country Club.

Scranton shot 324 as a team to edge out King's (329) by five strokes while Clark Summit finished at 420.

This marks Fleming's third consecutive round in the 70s and fourth of the season. 

Fellow senior Ethan Zawatski (Dallas, Pa. / Dallas) also finished in the 70s with a round of 79 (+8) to take third place on the day.

Freshmen Gehrig Shannon (Bernardsville, N.J. / Saint Peter's Prep) and Luke Merlan (Pembroke, Mass. / Pembroke) each carded rounds of 85 (+14) in their career debuts for Scranton. 

Junior Martin Stivala (Dunmore, Pa. / Scranton Prep) made his season debut for the Royals and finished the round with an 88 (+17) to round out the lineup for Scranton.

The men's golf team will be back in action on Tuesday when they take on Marywood at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
