BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) led The University of Scranton men's golf team with a 76 (+4) and the Royals captured the team title with a 317 at the Weyhill Classic that was hosted by Moravian University on Monday afternoon.
Scranton held off the host Greyhounds by three strokes as they checked in with a 320 and the Greyhounds' Jake Haberstumpf garnered medalist honors with a 71 (-1).
Fleming finished second with his 76 and sophomore Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) posted a third place finish with a 79 (+7) on the day.
Elsewhere for the Royals, fellow sophomore Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) carded an 80 (+8), senior Ethan Zawatski (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) fired an 82 (+10) and freshman Jack Novis (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) shot an 84 (+12).
The Royals are back in action on Thursday for a dual match against King's at Wyoming Valley Country Club with tee time slated for 12 p.m.
