Butler Notches Career Low 70 as Men's Golf Rolls Past Wilkes

DALLAS, Pa. – Sophomore Stephen Butler (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) shot a two under par 70 and The University of Scranton men's golf team rolled to a dual meet victory over Wilkes on Thursday at Huntsville Golf Club in Dallas.

Butler earned medalist honors as the Royals started off the 2022-23 campaign with a 298-338 victory and posted their lowest team score since a 297 in a victory over Marywood on Sept. 22, 2021.

The 70 for Butler was also a career low, surpassing his previous best of 72 that was set in a dual match win against Marywood on Oct. 6, 2021.

Senior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) and sophomore Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) both carded a 74 (+2) on the day, while freshman Jack Novis (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) shot an 80 (+8) and fellow sophomore Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) checked in with an 81 (+9).

Max Cocchi paced Wilkes with a 78 (+6) on the day.

The Royals are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Penn State Hazleton with tee time at Valley Country Club slated for 12 p.m.
