MORRISTOWN, N.J. - It was another dominating day for The University of Scranton men's golf team on Monday, as the Royals swept the top five spots on the individual leaderboard to coast to a first-place finish at the Drew Invitational held at the windy Spring Brook Country Club on Monday.
Scranton, who posted a team score of 321 to easily beat Moravian (350) and Drew (372) at the event, was led by sophomores Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock North) and Ethan Zawatski (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) who each carded a 78 on the day. On a match of cards, Fleming took medalist honors over Zwatski, as he posted an even-par 36 on the final nine holes of the afternoon.
Finishing in third overall was junior John Shaughnessy (Florida, N.Y./S.S. Seward Institute), who posted an 81, while junior Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and freshman Martin Stivala (Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Prep) rounded out the lineup finishing in a tie for fourth by each shooting a pair of 84's.
The University of Scranton men's golf team returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to the Moravian Invitational in New Tripoli, Pa. Tee time is set for 12:30 p.m.
