TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. – Sophomores Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) and Ethan Zawatski (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) each fired a 77 (+6) to tie for the individual title as The University of Scranton men's golf team topped both Marywood and Misericordia in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon at Stone Hedge Golf Course in Tunkhannock.
This marked the first career appearance in a match for Zawatski.
The Royals finished the afternoon with a team score of 315, defeating both the Pacers (326) and Cougars (378) as Scranton golfers carded five of the top seven rounds in Saturday's tri-match.
The trio of senior Thomas McAuliffe (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield), graduate student Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) and junior John Shaughnessy (Florida, N.Y./S.S. Seward Institute) all fired a 79 (+8) for the Royals on the afternoon to finish tied for third. Junior Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) rounded out the efforts for Scranton with an 83 (+12) and placed ninth.
The University of Scranton men's golf team will take on Wilkes in a dual match on Wednesday afternoon at Huntsville Golf Club in Dallas, Pa. Tee time is set for 1 p.m.
