Field Hockey's Redding & Franco Earn NFHCA All-Region Accolades

Junior forward Katie Redding (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) and sophomore defender Lauren Franco (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) of The University of Scranton field hockey team earned NFHCA All-Region honors as announced by the organization this week.

Redding was a First Team selection in Region V, while Franco was named to the Second Team.

This marks the second straight year that Redding has received All-Region accolades and the first of Franco's career.

The duo helped lead the Royals to an 11-5 record in 2022 and the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. Both earned All-Landmark Conference First Team honors and Redding was named Offensive Player of the Year.

Redding started all 16 games for Scranton and led the conference in both goals (20) and points (46), while ranking tied for second in game-winning goals (3) and third in assists (6). Her 20 goals were also the third most in a single season in program history and the most by a Royals player since Meredith Campbell tallied 31 in 2017. Furthermore, Redding's 46 points on the season are also the third best total in a single season.

Franco started all 15 games she appeared in on defense and also added nine points on three goals and three assists including game-winning goals in victories over King's and Drew. The West Chester, Pa., native served as an anchor for a defensive unit that allowed the fewest goals in the Landmark Conference with 20 and also ranked second in goals against average (1.23) while recording five shutouts.
