Junior Katie Redding (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) of The University of Scranton field hockey team scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Catholic and has been named Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
This marks the fourth career Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week honor for Redding.
In the third quarter of a 0-0 game, the junior forward scored two goals just under three minutes apart and the Royals held on for a 2-1 win over Catholic to remain unbeaten. In the 39th minute, Redding took a feed from senior Marissa Campbell (Sunbury, Pa./Line Mountain) and blasted a shot to the far side of the cage for a 1-0 edge and struck again in the 42nd minute with a pass into the circle by fellow junior Cori Davis (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood).
Earlier in the week, she added an insurance goal in a 2-0 win at Gwynedd Mercy.
The multi-goal game was the sixth of Redding's career at Scranton.
On the season, Redding leads the Landmark Conference with eight goals, a total that also ranks in the Top 20 nationally.
The 6-0 Royals host Ithaca in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday night at Weiss Field with action getting underway at 7:30 p.m.
