Senior Dan D'Agostini (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) of The University of Scranton wrestling team is enjoying an outstanding season on the mat for the Royals. On Wednesday, his accomplishments were recognized on the national level as D'Agostini was named to the Honorable Mention for the national top-10 rankings in the 197-pound weight class.
D'Agostini sports an impressive, 18-1 record this season and his won his last 14 bouts of the year. His only setback was a 3-2 decision York's Hasan Alic, who is currently ranked among the national contenders, on November 3 in the championship match of the Ned McGinley Invitational hosted by King's.
D'Agostini won the 197-pound championship at this past weekend's RIT Invitational, winning five straight matches including wins over nationally ranked opponents in the semifinal and final rounds. His performance earned him University of Scranton Athlete of the Week honors.
Among his 19 wins this season, D'Agostini has scored four major decisions, four technical falls, and has one pin. He is also a perfect 9-0 during dual matches for the Royals.
For his career, D'Agostini sports an 86-27 record and ranks fourth in career victories in Scranton history.
D'Agostini and the Royals return to the mat on Saturday, December 22 at the Wilkes Open.
