Senior forward Erin Boggan (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) of The University of Scranton women’s basketball team has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 4 team, according to a release late Thursday.

The Capital One Academic All-District teams are chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their performances both athletically and academically. Boggan was chosen in Academic All-District in District 4, which includes all NCAA Division III institutions in Pennsylvania.

A senior counseling and human services major with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.8, Boggan has been a standout on the court for the Lady Royals, who are 14-6. She’s averaging 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this season, and is second on the team in field goal percentage at 42.4 percent and second in blocks with 18 while shooting 76.4 percent from the free throw line.

A two-year starter for Scranton, Boggan has averaged 10.7 points and 7.5 rebounds in 44 games since joining the Lady Royals last season. She spent her first two years at Gardner-Webb, an NCAA Division I institution in Boiling Springs, N.C.
