Senior midfielder John Gregitis (Wayne, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) and sophomore goalkeeper Nicholas McKaba (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris) played pivotal roles in a pair of thrilling victories by The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team last week. As a result, they've earned weekly honors from the Landmark Conference.

Gregitis has been named Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year after scoring the game-winning goal in both victories, while McKaba has been named Defensive Player of the Week after making 17 saves and allowing just nine goals combined in the two wins.

Gregitis started the week by scoring twice and adding an assist in an 8-5 victory over Marywood on Tuesday, March 11, at Fitzpatrick Field. His goal at the 6:35 mark of the fourth period broke a 5-5 tie and sparked a 3-0 Scranton run to end the game. McKaba made seven saves, including five in the first half as Scranton took a 3-1 lead.

In the Landmark Conference opener against Catholic on Friday, March 14, Gregitis scored with 3.6 seconds remaining to give the Royals a thrilling 5-4 victory. His goal capped a five-goal fourth period for the Royals. He also had two assists.

McKaba made 10 saves in the victory over Catholic, including fifth in the fourth period when the Royals overcame a 3-0 deficit with less than 11 minutes to play.

The Royals return to action on Wednesday, March 19, when they travel to Wilkes-Barre Township, Pa. to take on King's at 4 p.m.
