Mike Deliberti (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield
Ludlowe), a senior midfielder on The University of
Scranton men’s lacrosse team, has been named the Landmark
Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending
Sunday, March 10.
Deliberti opened the period with a season-high seven ground balls, caused two turnovers, and had an assist in the Royals’ 9-5 loss to highly regarded York College (Pa.) on Wednesday, March 5, at Fitzpatrick Field. He came back three days later and recorded five ground balls and two ground balls in a 12-5 victory over Lycoming College on Saturday, March 8, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
In the win over Lycoming, Deliberti played a key role on a Royal defensive unit that held the Warriors to just one goal in the first half.
The Royals, now 2-2 under second-year head coach Doug Sage, will host Marywood University this Tuesday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field. It was originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, but moved due to inclement weather forecasted for much of Northeastern Pennsylvania that day.
