Royals Third In Landmark Conference Preseason Poll

With its season opener just 10 days away, The University of
Scranton men’s lacrosse team found out today that it is
expected to finish third in the Landmark Conference this
spring.
The Royals picked up 36 points in the conference’s preseason
poll of its seven head coaches. Defending champion Goucher
College landed five first-place votes and 55 points to claim the
top spot, followed by Drew University (two first-place votes, 48
points), Scranton, Catholic and Susquehanna (both with 23 points,
the Merchant Marine Academy (17), and Washington & Jefferson
(15).
Doug Sage will make his head coach
debut with the Royals on Saturday, February 23, when Scranton hosts
Farmingdale State at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field. He
welcomes back 30 lettermen, including five starters, from last
year’s team that went 9-7 overall and qualified for the
Landmark Conference tournament for the second straight season and
for the fourth time in the conference’s five-year
history.
Scranton won its first-ever Landmark Conference title and advanced
to the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time in school
history in 2011.
The results of the 2013 Landmark Conference men’s lacrosse
preseason poll are as follows:
