Following an outstanding offensive display over two games last week, University of Scranton field hockey player Gracie McClatchy (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) netted another weekly award today by being selected to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Player of the Week Honor Roll.
The junior forward earned the national honor after being selected as the Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week earlier this week after recording 11 points on five goals and one assist in a pair of victories for the Royals.
After assisting on the first goal in a 4-1 win over William Paterson on Wednesday, McClatchy scored a natural hat trick, tallying the final three goals to break open a 1-1 tie with the Pioneers. She scored the eventual game-winner in the 29th minute before adding a pair of insurance markers in the second half as Scranton pull away for the win in its first game on Weiss Field.
McClatchy followed the seven-point effort up with a two-goal effort in a 4-0 victory over Elmira on Saturday. She scored her second game-winning goal in as many games in the sixth minute against the Soaring Eagles before doubling the Royals' advantage in the 26th minute.
McClatchy, who added an assist, in Scranton's 2-0 victory at Misericordia on Tuesday evening, leads the Royals in scoring this year with five goals and two helpers for 12 points.
McClatchy and the Royals will look to extend their season-opening win streak to five games on Thursday night when they host King's at Weiss Field starting at 7 p.m.
