Baseball's Simone Picks Up Landmark Conference Player of the Week Honor

Senior outfielder Anthony Simone (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley Senior) had a big week at the plate during The University of Scranton baseball team's trip to Fort Myers, Fla. during spring break. As a result, he has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week for baseball.

Simone hit .533 (8-for-15) in five games last week, including four doubles and a home run. He had a .611 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of 1.000 while scoring eight runs and driving in four.

He began the week by going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a walk in an 8-6 win over MacMurray on Monday, March 13. A day later, Simone went a combined 2-for-5 with a home run, three runs, an RBI and a walk as the Royals split a doubleheader with Washington College. In Wednesday's 12-4 win against Old Westbury in the first game of a doubleheader, he capped the week by going 4-for-5 with three doubles, five runs and an RBI.

For the season, Simone is hitting .462 with six doubles, two home runs, 18 runs and eight RBIs. He has an on-base percentage of .585 and a slugging percentage of .769 while starting 12 of 13 games for the Royals (8-5).

The baseball team will return to action on Saturday, March 25, when the Royals travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. to take on Susquehanna in a Landmark Conference doubleheader at 1 p.m.
